William E. Thorn, Sr

Posted

William E. Thorn, Sr., born May 23, 1936, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 31, 2019, He was the beloved husband of Carol B. Thorn, with whom he shared 54 wonderful years of marriage. Bill was, most of all, a Christian man of kindness and character, a wonderful husband and father, a real friend. We hardly know how we can go on without him, but we rejoice that his race is won, and he has crossed the finish line, “safely home”. We can say this because the Lord Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins. Bill believed that, and on June 8, 1982, he repented for his sins and trusted the Lord, receiving the salvation Jesus had purchased on the cross for him, and not for him only, but for all those who would repent and believe.

Bill was predeceased by his son, William Thorn Jr., his parents, Ernest H. and Marie (Moffett) Thorn; his in-laws, Warren H. and Marion (King) Bellis; his brother, James V. Thorn and sister, Jean Thorn; his brother-in-law, Glenn Graham; his cousin, Neil Moffett; and his sister-in-law, Carole Ann Bellis.

He is survived by his wife, Carol Jean and by his sisters, Robina Kemel and Barbara Graham. He is also survived by cousins, Nigel Moffett and wife Sandra; Patricia Moffett and friend Bryon; niece Diane and husband Michael Ryan; David and wife Deborah Graham, and others. We must mention Bill’s dear friend and neighbor, Paul Gannon-the “friend that sticketh closer than a brother”. His help and friendship cannot be overstated.
