Women and girls in sports

This is an open letter that I had written to Congressman Pat Ryan back in April and after more than 45 days have yet to receive a response as to why he voted against protecting girls’ sports:

“Congressman,
My wife and I have three boys and they and their wives now have nine children of their own, including four daughters. I see from your bio you and your wife have two boys which I am sure are your joys as well. Protecting our children and grandchildren are very important to us and I would assume you feel the same for your children.

While at the University of Pennsylvania, William Thomas swam and was ranked 554th in the 200 freestyle in all divisions. Since he now goes by Lia Thomas and was allowed to swim against biological women, she is one of the top-ranked swimmers in women’s competition. The unfairness to biological women who have trained all their young lives to complete only to lose to biological men at the NCAA level is incomprehensible.

To “level the playing field,” Congressman Greg Stube, also an Army veteran with a son, sponsored HR 734, Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023. Sadly, I see you and all House Democrats apparently don’t agree that biological women should not have to compete against biological men and thus voted NAY on April 20. Please explain your opposition to this legislation.

Thank you.”
