Anthony D. DiCioccio of Campbell Hall, passed away at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY, on Friday, December 9, 2022.
The son of Antonio Giovanni DiCioccio and Mary Amodio DiCioccio, he was born on October 31, 1945 in Middletown, NY. Anthony was a school teacher at the E.J. Russell Elementary School in Pine Bush, NY, and retired in 2001 after a 32 year career.
Anthony was a graduate of Valley Central High School in Montgomery, class of 1963. He attended Orange County Community College in Middletown, and he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Education at the State University of New York, College at Brockport. Anthony went on to earn his Master of Science Degree in Education at S.U.N.Y. College at New Paltz, with a concentration in reading at the graduate level. Anthony was a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Honor Society in Education, at S.U.N.Y. College at Brockport.
He received the Principal’s Award at E. J. Russell Elementary School in 2001. Anthony was the recipient of the New York State D.A.R.E. Educator of the Year Award in 2001. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and also a 38 year member of the American Legion – Goshen, NY Chapter. Anthony was a lifelong member of the Church of the Assumption in Maybrook, having served as an altar boy in his youth, and later as a reader at masses. He enjoyed working on church events and doing repair jobs and shoveling snow in the winter months at the church. In addition to being a lifelong Yankees baseball fan, he was also keenly interested in the Catskill Mountains and Adirondack Mountains. He enjoyed hiking the trails with the retired teachers group. He was a past member of the Maybrook Fire Department.
Anthony is survived by his brother, Joseph of Maybrook, and many cousins, both here and in Italy and many dear friends and acquaintances. He was predeceased by his parents.
There will be no visitation. Cremation and burial of his ashes will be private, in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montgomery, NY. at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Mass celebrating Anthony’s life will be announced at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
