State Police received a phone call, Saturday, from a woman who apparently found a body on a hiking trail in the Hamptonburgh Preserve.
Uniformed and plain clothes investigators responded, along with the Goshen Ambulance Corps. No further information was released.
The Orange County Land Trust describes the Hamptonburgh Preserve as 130 acres of prime nesting habitat for waterfowl, woodpeckers, bluebirds, and other cavity-nesting birds, plus 74 acres of rolling wildflower meadows, farmland, and riverine forest along the Wallkill River. Parts of the land are being farmed, but the site is open to the public for walking, photography, and birding.
