Brahm honored in Maybrook for volunteer work

Amidst unanimous accolades for his many and lengthy volunteer activities in Maybrook, Paul Brahm received the Joseph E. Dineen 2023 Award for Outstanding Volunteer Service from the village board during its meeting Monday.

“As we all know,” Mayor Dennis Leahy said, “many people have busy lives today and volunteers are simply hard to find these days. That’s why it’s important for the village to recognize individuals who go above and beyond for their community, especially when it comes to mentoring young people.”

For the past six years, Brahm has volunteered with the Maybrook Troop 236 Scouts and Cub Scout Pack. He is currently the Assistant Cub Master and a member of the Troop Committee. His son Tristan is an Eagle Scout with Troop 236. Brahm, married to Kelly, is also the father of Madeline.

“He’s a good man,” enthused James Barnett, Troop 236 Band founder and Scoutmaster Emeritus.

Brahm has also volunteered with the Maybrook Fire Department for ten years as their Safety Officer.

In addition to his volunteer activities, Brahm is a 1st Sgt. with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office and Squad Leader of its Tactical Emergency Support for the Special Operations Group.

All village board members had nothing but praise for Brahm, with Trustee William Giannico stating, “I have known you for five years and my life is better for knowing you.”
