Bullville accident claims one life

On Saturday, September 23, at approximately 10 a.m., the New York State Police from the Middletown barracks and the Town of Crawford Police Department responded to a fatal motor vehicle accident on State Route 17K in the town of Crawford involving two vehicles.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 International truck, operated by Marcos Medina, age 33 from Bronx, NY was traveling east on 17K when for unknown reasons his vehicle crossed over the center of the roadway and stuck a 1993 Toyota Tacoma that was traveling west. The International truck came to rest on its side following the collision. Medina was extricated from the vehicle by the Bullville Fire Department.

The operator of the Tacoma, identified as Gerald Filcher, 64 from Bloomingburg, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The investigation is still ongoing and anyone with any additional information is urged to contact the New York State Police at (845) 344-5300.
