Wallkill’s Aneesa Canales won the 400-meter dash Friday during the Section 9, Class B championships in Middletown with a time of 59.80.
“I felt very confident after hitting my (personal records) this season,” she said, after winning the event.
Wallkill’s Sam Rodriguez won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.51 and the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.80. Angela Mayer won the pentathlon for Wallkill with 2,094 points. Wallkill girls’ team won the 400-meter relay with a time of 50.90. The Panthers were also second in 1,600-meter relay.
Louis Martinez won the pole vault for Wallkill’s boys’ team, covering 13-feet. Martinez and his teammates, Romaine Bird and Bright Boafo, went 1-2-3 in the triple jump, and Bird won the long jump, covering a distance of 21-feet, five and three-quarter inches.
Anthony Nelson won the high jump, covering six-feet, two-inches. And the Panthers won the 400-meter relay with a time of 44.02 and the 1,600-meter relay with a time of 3:33.60
Pine Bush’s Brandon DeJesus won the Section 9 Class A 100-meter dash with a time of 11.08. Matt Hellig, his teammate won the discus, when he covered 143-feet, six inches. Hellig was third in the shot put.
For the girls, Pine Bush’s Taylor Pannell and AnJalyna Talmadge went 1-2 in the high jump, and Talmadge won the pentathlon with 2,743 points.
Valley Central’s Mason Davis won the Class A shot put when he covered a distance of 49-feet and one inch.
