Developer seeks to annex 17 acres into Maybrook

The Maybrook village board’s first meeting of the new year will include a presentation on what is being called a “Rakov annexation petition”.

The petition, filed by J&G Law of Walden, requests the annexation of just over 17 acres of land from the Town of Montgomery to Maybrook. The parcel is landlocked and lies outside the village boundaries, in the vicinity of Heard Avenue and Wiley Street. Proposed zoning for the parcel, should it be annexed into the village, is R-4.

At a meeting earlier this month, the village board voted unanimously to be the lead agency for the required State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process. Next month’s presentation is an unofficial review. Public hearings by both the town and village boards will be required before any approvals can be granted. The presentation is scheduled for 7 p.m., Monday, January 8.
