Dr. Jon O. Hansen

Dr. Jon O. Hansen, of Montgomery, New York, passed away Wednesday, July 20, 2022, at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He was 80.

Born in Curtis, Nebraska on February 2, 1942, he was the son of the late LaVern and Jeanne Hansen of Chatsworth, California. He graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado. After graduation he worked in a large animal practice until he was inducted into the United States Air Force, where he served for six years.

In 1976, he married Connie Osborne. They were privileged to enjoy over 46 years of love and friendship together. In 1985, he and Connie moved from Colorado to Newburgh. He was the Director of the USDA NY Animal Import Center, located at Stewart Airport, for the next 19 years.

He loved running, hiking, and cycling. In 2012, he and Connie backpacked the Grand Canyon rim-to-rim. He loved it so much they did it a second time that year. Three years later he rode his bicycle from Maine to Oregon over the course of two summers.

He was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Kelli Beckwith (Steve) of Lawson, Missouri and Kari Johnson (Stephan) of Fort Collins, Colorado.
In addition to his wife and daughters, he is survived by five grandchildren and three great-grandsons.

He is also survived by two sisters, Dee Ohi (James) of Denver, Colorado, Dianna Hanson (Winston) of Gig Harbor, Washington and his brother, Kevin Hansen of Camarillo, California.

He is also survived by his three canine pals, Abby, Annabelle and Lexi, along with Sophie the cat. They will miss him and the treats he would sneak to them.

Burial will be in a family plot in Stockville, Nebraska. He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him.
