The Gardiner Town Board has voiced its approval to upgrade the campground site at the Mohonk Preserve.

The Samuel F. Pryor III Shawangunk Gateway Campground off Route 299, opened in May 2015, is managed by the American Alpine Club and the Mohonk Preserve. It currently has 50 tent sites with a limit of 4 people per campsite, maximum of 2 2-person tents per campsite.

At last week’s meeting, the town board authorized Supervisor Mary Beth Majestic to write a letter in support of the campground, which is seeking a grant of between $15,000 and $25,000 to upgrade its site.
