John J. Knight of Montgomery passed away Thursday, February 24, 2022 in Middletown surrounded by family. He was 71.
The son of Frances Marie Knight and the late Janson Egbert Knight, he was born June 7, 1950 in Newburgh, NY.
On Thursday we lost an amazing man with the biggest heart. A man who treated you like family if you were lucky enough to know him. Johnny worked as a chef and had a passion for cooking. He was always quick to offer his services to anyone. He was best known for his BBQ and famous brisket. His happy place was surrounded by nature. He was a member of the Stockbridge Rod and Gun Club. Many referred to him as a fishing and hunting legend. But most of all, he loved being surrounded by family. Especially his Great-Grandchildren. He had many traditions including 4am Christmas morning get-togethers with his loved ones (and you better not be late or he would call you non-stop). 3am breakfasts for opening day and his favorite of course, getting a new fishing pole for every new addition to the family.
His smile and laughter were infectious. They say a man's wealth is not measured in money, status or power. It is measured in the legacy we leave behind for those we love and those we inspire. I’m sure everyone would agree Johnny was one of the richest men around. Tight lines Pal.

Survivors include his wife Georgianna L. Knight; mother Frances Marie Knight; daughter Samantha Dickson (Raymond); grandchildren Amber Dickson (Roger), Ronnie Dickson (Alicia) Jesse Dickson (George) Johanna Dickson (AJ) Jazzy Dickson(Alex) Shawna Dickson(Nef) Princess Dickson Raymond Jr. Dickson; Great Grandchildren Makayla, Chase, William, Hailey, Ray, Angie, Roger Jr. Sister Sue McDermott & Dave Brother Steve Knight & Denise and many nieces, nephews and extended family
