John J. Marron Sr. of Montgomery, a longtime resident of the area, passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at home. He was 94.
The son of the late Peter and Alice Comiskey Marron, he was born June 02, 1924 in Manhattan.

John served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He owned and operated his own construction company and Montgomery Tire in Montgomery. He was a 70 year member of Montgomery Volunteer Fire Department, a 70 year member of American Legion post 521, a mason in the Wallkill Lodge #627, Walden, NY, a member of Holy Name of Mary Church, and a founding member of Montgomery Drag Racing and Sportscar Racing, at Orange County Airport.

He was the widower of Helen Rosenberg Marron.

Survivors include his daughter JoAnn Scheels and her husband Sandy of Montgomery, daughter Ellen Dykshoorn and her husband Ed of Goshen; Son John J. Marron Jr. and his wife Patty of Montgomery,seven Grandchildren: Mary Cron, Bill Stewart Jr.,.Donna Foster, Ed Dykshoorn Jr., David Dykshoorn, Wendy Plante, John Marron; 12 Great Grandchildren, with one on the way five great great grandchildren; sister Marie Tipping; sister in law Elizabeth Rosenberg Steinman; Caretaker Susan Spitz and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.

Along with his parents and wife he was predeceased by four Brothers and three sisters.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Montgomery Senior Center, 36 Bridge Street, Montgomery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association,2 Jefferson Plaza, Ste 103 Poughkeepsie, NY 12601-4060, or a charity of one’s choice.
