The chairmen of both the Maybrook Planning Board and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) have resigned with two new chairmen named by Mayor Dennis Leahy and unanimously approved by the village board. Each board also got a new member each.

John Wilson, former Planning Board chairman, and John Lown, former ZBA Chairman, both resigned as of January 1. Each received a plaque for their service from the village board, and both earned Leahy’s praise.

“Chairman Wilson and Chairman Lown,” he said, “did a wonderful job overseeing their committees with integrity and honor.”

Michael D’Angelo was appointed new Planning Board chairman. Sheila Schwartz was named ZBA chairwoman. Both were members of the boards they will now chair. D’Angelo’s term will expire in 2024; Schwartz’s in 2026.

With their moving up to chair, that created a vacancy on each board. Their replacements on each board are Paul Brahm on the Planning Board and Melissa Walsh on the ZBA. Brahm’s term will expire in 2027; Walsh’s in 2024.
