Signaling the end of an era, current Maybrook Village Treasurer David Griffith was appointed Village Clerk/Treasurer, effective September 5, during a village board meeting this week. Griffith replaces well-loved and long-time Village Clerk Valentina “Tina” Johnson, who will retire effective that date.

Griffith, a long-time Maybrook resident, came to the village in October 2022 as Treasurer. He had previously held that position in the Village of Montgomery for seven years.

Johnson has said she will help with the transition.

With the merging of the Clerk and Treasurer positions, the village board also approved the appointment of Renee DeZelmo as Deputy Treasurer. With this re-merging of the clerk and treasurer positions, Mayor Dennis Leahy said he is reorganizing village operations.

Griffith will also replace Johnson as Registrar of Vital Statistics, with DeZelmo appointed Deputy Registrar.
