Montgomery adds a ‘contact us’ link to its website

For some time, Montgomery residents have made inquiries and requests that their elected officials be more accessible. Now it appears that a step has been made in that direction.

The village website now has a “Contact the Village” Link. Residents or other interested citizens can fill out an online form in which they are prompted to leave their name, email address and phone number and submit a question or comment. This comes after repeated calls for village officials, including the mayor and trustees, to have “officials” email addresses listed on the website.

Trustee Kevin Conero said he met with the village webmaster Carol Daley to discuss creating a request for information page where residents could go to their website and fill out this request for information.

“It will be routed over to our village clerk, and the village clerk can route that to either DPW, the police department, the mayor, or whoever she feels that needs to go to.”

Other residents have come forward with suggestions to improve communications.

“I’ve contacted village several times with suggestions on upgrading and improving technology, navigating documentation, citizen engagement, or assessments,” said resident Walt Pahucki at last week’s village board meeting. “I appreciate the meetings are now live streaming…and I look forward to further improvements.“

Other changes in the works include improvements to the website, with a new design in the works.

“She (Daley) has new design that she wants to show us,” Conero said. “ So she’s also working on that as well. She’ll present it to the board. We’ll look that over and obviously see this.”
