I was dismayed to learn that the Montgomery Free Library is in danger of closing unless additional funds are donated. To me, a community is not complete without a library, and once closed, I fear would be permanently lost to the community.

As a child growing up, I remember that visits to the library were exciting and special. Losing the library would set the children in the town of Montgomery at a significant disadvantage compared to their peers. Now, as an adult, I rely on the library, and cherish the wide access to resources that we get through the RCLS system, a system that would be unavailable to residents of the town if the library were to close. I sincerely hope that all residents of the town of Montgomery will donate generously to the library to help it through this time.

I also hope that a more permanent solution will be found to funding the library by including it on the tax roll, as is done in surrounding communities, typically at a cost of between 1 and 5 dollars each year for in surrounding communities.
