PB board to hear from experts on shootings, cell phone usage

At the December 12 Pine Bush school board meeting, Superintendent Brian Dunn said the district would be learning more about preventing school shootings, and the impact of cell phone usage, early in the new year.

Dunn reported on a presentation of Peter Langman, an expert on profiling school shooters, at a recent meeting of Rockland BOCES. Langman will talk with the district’s administrative team and school board soon. Langman will address the signs of potential school shooters and how to prevent shootings.

Dunn said that the board will soon study a report by Thomas Kersting on the impact of cell phone usage on children. Kersting is the author of Disconnected: How to Reconnect Our Digitally Distracted Kids.

The board hired Dionisia Denise Zuginatis as Assistant Principal at Pine Bush High School. She replaces Jen Evans who recently became the high school Athletics Director.

Board member Dori Johnson congratulated students for their art work celebrating the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights at an exhibit at SUNY Orange.

The board will next meet January 9 at the high school.
