The Pine Bush Bushmen returned two relay teams and one individual swimmer to the final day of the New York State girls’ swimming championships on Friday at Ithaca College.
Both relay teams, which were seeded in the top 10 finished in the top 20.
Pine Bush’s 200-yard medley relay team of Samantha Hufcut, Mackenzie Gula, Antonia Licardi, and Elishka Hajek were 14th with a time of 1:50.13.
Their final time was less than a second slower than their preliminary time of 1:49.32, which was about a second off their seed time of 1:48.47.
Pine Bush’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Hajek, Cora Mance, Hufcut and Licardi finished 14th with a time of 1:39.08, more than a second faster than their preliminary time from Saturday. They were 19th in the prelims with a time of 1:40.40.
Valley Central’s 200-yard freestyle relay team of Rian Dickman, Naihomy Garcia, Grace Wienckowski and Allison Armistead just missed coming back Saturday for the bonus swim, finishing just ticks behind Section 1’s Fox Lane’s 1:31.37.
Overall the Vikings finished 31st even though their preliminary time of 1:41.41 was better at Section 8’s Garden City and Fox Lane’s final times on Saturday.
Hajek finished 21st in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.21 in the bonus finals, improving upon her preliminary time of 24.67.
Licardi missed the cut for Saturday’s swim in the event with a time of 25.12. She finished 40th overall. Valley Central’s Allison Armistead finished 45th with a prelim time of 25.24 seconds.
Hajek and Licardi finished 31st and 32nd in the preliminaries on Friday with respective times of 53.86 and 53.99.
Hufcut was 51st in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:01.06.
Gula was 46th in the 100-yard breaststroke on Friday with a time of 1:10.46.
Pine Bush’s 400-yard freestyle relay team of Sam McKee, Sophia Licardi, Hufcut and Madaghan O’Shea finished 36th in Friday’s preliminaries with a time of 3:45.46.
