Pine Bush finishes third at indoor meet

Shaylen Goslar and Madison Williams won two events each, leading the Pine Bush Bushmen to a third-place finish at the Section 9 Class A indoor track and field championships on Saturday at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Goslar won the 1,000-meter and 1,500-meter runs with respective times of 2:54.28 and 4:47.05, while Madison Williams won the long jump, reaching 18-6 and the triple jump reaching 30-6.5. Mya Riquelme was fifth in the triple jump, reaching 34-1.5.

Ella Galloway won the girls’ high jump, clearing 5-1. Williams was third with an identical height. Galloway was third in the long jump, reaching 16-3. Galloway and Averie Klein were second and third in the girls’ pole vault. Galloway cleared 11-6 feet and Klein cleared 11.

Overall, the Bushmen scored 89 points in the girls’ meet, while Valley Central finished sixth with 28.75 points. Wallkill was 10th with 14 points. Cornwall won the girls’ meet with 124 points. The Bushmen were sixth in the boys’ meet with 39.5 points and Valley Central was 14th with a single point.

Monroe-Woodbury won the boys’ meet with 92 points.

Wallkill’s Caitlyn Murphy won the girls’ 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:04.83 and Pine Bush’s Nicholas Burgess won the boys’ 300-meter dash with a time of 35.71 seconds.

The Vikings’ team of Catherine Primavera, Dayna Scott, Rebecca Sibley and Mackenzie Lennon won the girls’ 800-meter run with a time of 1:46.62.

Joshua Dymond was second in the boys’ weight throw, as he reached 51-7. He also was third in the boys’ shot put with a throw of 41-0.

Shawn Riquelme, Yauvani McKenzie, Andres Martinez and Burgess were second in the boys’ 800-meter relay in 1:34.18.

Pine Bush’s Elysia Jackson was third in the girls’ 600-meter run in 1:43.05 and Leah Meberg was sixth in 1:46.09. Plexico Brooks was fifth in the boys’ high jump, clearing 6-0 feet and Jack Fowler was sixth, clearing 5-9. Brooks was sixth in the long jump, reaching 19-8.

Nathan VonDeben was fourth in the boys’ pole vault, clearing 12 feet.

Gianna Conklin, Elysia Jackson, Meberg and Goslar were fourth in the 1,600-meter relay in 4:14.57.

Valley Central’s Catherine Primavera was second in the girls’ 300-meter dash in 41.79 seconds. Sarah Del Pilar was fifth in the girls’ 3,000-meter run in 10:45.02.

Kaelyn Marcano was second in the girls’ weight throw, reaching 40-10.50 feet.

Alyssa Jamnaprasad was fifth in the girls’ high jump, reaching 4-6.

Derek Vincent was sixth in the boys’ 55-meter hurdles in 8.41 seconds.

Wallkill’s Mayah Simon was fifth in the 1,500-meter race walk in 8:18.85. Ariana Reyes was sixth in the girls’ weight throw, reaching 34-00 feet.

The girls’ 3,200-meter relay team of Emma DiLemme, Emma Haughian, Murphy, and Ruth Weinmann finished second in 10:35.84.
