Final reminder about the Pine Bush Lions Club Harvest Festival on Sat. Sept 21st from 9:30am to 3pm (rain date 9/22). Vendor apps can still be downloaded from the Pine Bush Harvest Festival website.
This event has more than 25+ years of experience providing a venue for local talent; local farmers market providers, vendors, community organizations, public service groups and loads of entertainment for the entire family.
There will be vendors along Main Street and in the Crawford Commons, local entertainment in the Crawford Commons Gazebo, Touch-a-Truck on New St., along with the farmers market. Our Health & Wellness Way will be located in the Crawford Commons this year.
If you would like to become a Lion and join our group of 31 volunteers and contribute to your community, just let me know and I will give you the details. You can also stop in and see Membership Chair Tracy Wilson of Tracy’s Doghouse Grooming; 61 Main St. Crawford Commons in Pine Bush and she can fill you in as well. We will have Lions members at our tent all during the event so stop by and buy a raffle ticket for your choice of a girl’s or boy’s bicycle or if you prefer a ticket for our lotto tree raffle.- or buy a bunch of each!

For those of you who are UFO buffs in the area, there is a group that meets every month in the Walker Valley Schoolhouse Community Center.

The United Friends Observer Society Support Group, was founded in 1993 and to this day, they gather to share stories, sightings, info and provide comfort to those who are in need. Their interests are in UFOs, aliens [extraterrestrials] and paranormal experiences such as the “Bigfoot” stories that span across the globe. There are even stories about our own Shawangunk Ridge Sasquatch – I have a neighbor who witnessed it after just moving into their new home here on the ridge about 16 years ago.
We have a little something special planned for our Oct. 2nd meeting. Ufologist, Forensic Pattern Researcher, Author and Paranormal Investigator, Tom Conwell, will be visiting us again to bring us up to date with more information about the UFO phenomenon all across the country and Pine Bush in particular. His latest book is called “They are Here” (East Coast UFOs) Vol. 1. You can visit him on Facebook or YouTube online for more information regarding his activities.
The meeting is open to the general public; door opens at 6:30 p.m. and meeting starts at 7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and a $5 donation is appreciated to offset expenses. For more info contact Dr. Bill Wiand at 845.744.3143 or billjw1055@gmail.com.

Start collecting up your craft supply items again that you no longer need/want and call Kelli Palinkas Greer at 744-3055 or email her at kellipalinkas@yahoo.com to repurpose those items for you. She is a friend of the Walker Valley Community Enhancement Committee and will be holding another sale of craft items - [dates to be determined] in the schoolhouse community center. Proceeds from these sales will benefit the committee and their many projects throughout the hamlet.

The Town of Shawangunk Democratic Committee is hosting a fundraiser dinner on October 22 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. to present the local candidates running for office. Pat Ryan, the incumbent running for County Executive, will speak about his plans for the County and the excellent slate of candidates running this November. Introducing themselves will be David Clegg, running for District Attorney, March Gallagher running for Controller, Tracy Bartels and Andrew Domenech running for County Legislature, and Charles Beach running for Shawangunk Town Board. Sheriff Juan Figueroa will also be present. The speeches will conclude with a question/answer session. The event will take place at Elsie’s Restaurant in Wallkill at the juncture of Rtes. 300 and 208, across from the old Borden Farm. For additional information contact Hal Chorny at hadochor@gmail.com or 744 -660.

Remember way back when - when Charlie Garrison had everyone painting up a storm to brighten up Walker Valley? Well, the time has come to auction off all of those beautiful works of art. Join us at the Walker Valley Firehouse on Sat. Sept. 14 from 4 – 7 p.m. and bid on the artwork of your liking.
Bring a snack or cookies to share with your neighbors and friends. There will be liquid refreshments available.
Proceeds from this auction will be used to help offset the cost of new American flags and solar lighting kits for Spring 2020! The veteran’s groups from Pine Bush are going to help Charlie with proper protocol for mounting and lighting of the flags. The community enhancement committee is going to help oversee the project and any remaining funds will be used for future projects in the community.

The Walker Valley Seniors are planning an October 21st trip to Riverview in Pennsylvania that will include a luncheon and entertainment. Cost is $45 for members and $55 for non-members.
