Pine Bush Lions Club’s Harvest Festival returns Saturday

Posted

Pine Bush Lions Club, a local humanitarian group, will host its annual harvest festival on Saturday, September 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Main Street in Pine Bush, bringing together hundreds of residents for a day of food, music, entertainment and more.

The origins of the festival date back to 1994 when residents came together to throw an all-day community celebration. Eventually, the town government got involved, and about 12 years ago, Pine Bush Lions Club took over responsibility for hosting the event.

“A group of people wanted to get together and do this on their own, and it was celebrated all throughout the community from morning to night…12 years ago, that group passed it on to the Lion’s Club,” said Sue Wiand, service chair and community coordinator for Pine Bush Lions Club.

The festival will feature various food and craft vendors, live music performances, demonstrations, a farmers market and a food drive. Additionally, residents can showcase their baking prowess during an apple pie baking contest; Lions Club will accept submissions between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at 61 Main Street, and judges will begin tastings at 2 p.m.

“Most vendors clamber to get into the festival; it’s a very well-respected community event,” Wiand added.
