Ralph Apelles, 61, a life-long resident of Pine Bush, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 at home.
The son of the late Fritz Apelles and Martha Herman Apelles, he was born on August 18, 1961 in Yonkers, NY.
He owned Ralph’s Plumbing & Heating for the past 33 years, with his son Gregory, joining him full-time in 2013 who will continue the legacy. Ralph loved to spend time outdoors and enjoy time with his family. He adored hunting and fishing with his children, snowmobiling, and camping with his wife and dogs. Ralph belonged to the Shawangunk Snowmobile & Rescue Club for almost 40 years. He especially loved spending all of his free time with his two granddaughters.
Ralph will be greatly missed by his wife of 32 years, Wendy Apelles, their 3 dogs, Rocky, Mocha and Bailey, his two children, Katrina Futrell (Russell Futrell JR), Gregory Apelles (Brittany Mercier), his siblings, Hans Apelles, Christel Bathrick, Traute Watson (Roy Watson), his granddaughters, Aurora Apelles and Everlee Futrell, his aunt, Dolly Moeller, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many, many friends. Ralph is predeceased by his mother, Martha Apelles, his father, Fritz Apelles, his stepmother, Hildegard Apelles, his sister Vera Bardin, and his uncle Hans L. Apelles.
Services were held Saturday, April 15, at William M. Gagan Funeral Home, Pine Bush, followed by a celebration of life at the Walker Valley Fire House. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Walker Valley Fire Department P.O Box 370, Walker Valley, NY 12588
