First and foremost, may you all be blessed with a very Happy Thanksgiving.
Did you notice, it’s beginning to look like Christmas? Santa’s Elves have been busy putting up lights and wreaths as well as the Christmas tree in Village Square. Thank you to the Rich Sager family for their donation of the Christmas tree.
I am excited to share the news of the birth of Sadie Evans Magill, born on November 22. Sadie is my first great grand daughter! Congratulations to her very proud dad, Scott and mom, Kristine! May they be blessed with all life’s best.
Walden Rotary Club members send belated Happy Birthday greetings to Mike Hayes who celebrated his special day on November 25. Family and friends wish him all the best. Its never too late to wish him a very “Happy Birthday”!

Keith Hunter sends word that the Walden Rotary Club will distribute winter coats and jackets for men, women and children at the Office of Hunter Insurance, 70 Oak Street, Walden. Anyone in need of a warm coat can pick one up at Hunter Insurance on Thursday, December 5, 6 – 9 p.m. Coats are free.
The Walden Rotary Club will host their Annual Poinsettia sale! 7” (Double Plant) – $15; 8” Triple Plant – $25; Various colors – White, Pink, Red, Marble. Delivery date December 2. Village offices are closed on November 28 and 28. Last day for yard waste to be picked up is Thursday, December 6.

Heard from Rotarian, Al Valk that the Walden Rotary Club members will be ringing the bell at the Salvation Army Kettle in front of Thruway Sporting Goods store on Friday, November 29, 9 a.m. and every Friday, Saturday/ Sunday until Christmas Eve or you can send Al a check at 2365 Albany Post Road, Walden, N. Y. 12586 payable to Walden Rotary Club or the Salvation Army.

You are invited to have Breakfast with Santa on Sunday, December 1, 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Walden V.F.W. Post 2946, 4-8 Oak Street. Age 10 and up -$10.; 6-9 – $5; 5 and under – free. All proceeds benefit cancer research.
This event is sponsored by the Relay for Life Team: Dawn’s Dream and the Walden V.F.W. Post 2946. Photos with Santa available – $4. per photo.

Mark your calendar to attend Christmas in the Square presented by the Village of Walden Recreation and Parks Department features Santa’s Arrival and Tree Lighting on Thursday, December 5.
Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. Boy Scout Troop 31 of Montgomery will be on site giving out free cocoa for everyone! Events are: 6 p.m. – Fox Hill Community – Christmas Caroling; 6:15 p.m. - 1st viewing of Live Nativity – Freedom Road Bible Church; 6:35 p.m. – N. Y. School of Music – Christmas Carols; 7 p.m. – 2nd viewing of Live Nativity; 7:20 p.m. – Walden Elementary School Community Choir – Christmas Caroling; 7:40 p.m. Santa arrives and tree lighting! Afterwards all are welcomed to visit St. Andrew’s Hall for FREE pictures with Santa and refreshments furnished by the Walden Woman’s Club and the Walden Community Council.

The Walden Humane Society, 2489 Albany Post Road will hold an indoor yard sale on Saturday, December 7, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Many great gift items, housewares, knick-knacks and much more. All proceeds benefit the care and feeding of the animals at the shelter. For information call 778-5115.

The Village of Walden Recreation and Parks Dept. will present the movie “The Grinch” on Saturday, December 7, at 7 p.m. at the John Howland Teen Center, Wooster Grove Park. Come out and enjoy FREE Family Fun. Dress in your favorite Christmas Pajamas. Refreshments and decorations provided by The Friends of Walden Youth and the Norman Family.

The Walden Historical Society invites you to attend their 2019 Christmas Coffee House at the Jacob T. Walden House, 34 North Montgomery Street on Saturday, December 7, 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Music by Kevin Cronin on the guitar, wine, cheese, crackers, and more and a tribute to our great veterans. For information call 778-7772.

On Saturday, December 8, 1 – 4 p.m. the Walden Historical Society will hold their annual Christmas Tea and Open House. Come out and enjoy Music by N. Y. School of Music, Enjoy tea and cookies by a glowing fireplace, tours and a special tribute to our Veterans.

The Josephine-Louise Public Library sends the following news:
The Library Board of Trustees will meet on Monday, December 2, 7:30 p.m. Please note the change of date. All are welcome to attend.

The “Wines of the World” class with JoAnn De Gaglia will be held Wednesday, December 4, 6:30 p.m. Space is limited. Please make sure to register ahead of time and plan to bring your own wine glass. You must be 21 years and older to attend.

Rod Freeman will bring his Hour of Code program to the library on Thursday, December 5, 6 p.m., 3rd Floor Municipal Building. Bring your laptops or devices for a fun evening of coding, games and prizes! All ages are welcome. Please come early that evening to park. You will also be able to enjoy the Christmas Tree Lighting!

The Library Chess Club will meet on Saturday, December 7, 11 a.m. – noon. All skill levels welcome.
