Stonehenge Farm Market resumes operations

Posted

After undergoing ownership changes and major preparations, Stonehenge Farm reopened its doors last Friday, selling its wide array of food, produce, and flowers once more to the residents of Bullville.

Opened in 1972 by Bill and Kathy Bronner, Stonehenge Farm began as a small farmers’ market that gradually expanded and became a prominent spot in town for its locally grown farm goods.

“We’re all about buying local, supporting local, everything that we can do to bring local stuff to a one-stop shop for everybody,” said Kate Loechner, manager of Stonehenge Farm who’s worked with the market for 13 years.

In late December of 2022, Stonehenge Farm’s previous owner passed away, and their attorneys held onto the property until a new owner took over on August 17. The owner, who requested to be anonymous, made several improvements to the market prior to reopening in September, including replacing the roof and giving the building a new coat of paint.

“He’s a great local customer, and he wants to give Bullville the facelift that it really deserves. He wants to make it a destination spot for people going up to the mountains and going down to the city,” Loechner said.

With the revisions set and goods stocked up, both staff members and customers couldn’t be happier for the market’s return.

“I’m very excited and happy to be back, it’s been a long winter,” said Jessica Scott, one of the assistant managers.

“I’m extremely happy, the owner is such a great guy and I’m glad he bought it,” said Gianna Tocco, another assistant manager.

“We have little kids that draw pictures like ‘welcome back’; I have five-year-olds running in here excited that they’re back at Stonehenge. They had one little boy, Micheal, had written on his calendar that Stonehenge was opening September 1,” Loechner explained.

“It’s really great, and it just shows more and more every year, when we open, how big of a part we are in the community and how much we love everybody in the community,” she continued.

If you’re planning to visit Stonehenge Farm but unsure what to buy, the staff recommends their key lime pies, empanadas, and fresh-cut roses.

Stonehenge Farm is located along 1401 State Route 302 in Bullville, and is open between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. For more information, contact the market at (845) 361-4014.
