Mysteries at the Museum, a Travel Channel TV show that explores the world’s greatest mysteries, is airing a special featuring the Hudson Valley on Wednesday night.

Host Don Wildman travels the world uncovering the stories behind historical institutions, unexplored archives, relics, artifacts and more.

Dominic Stobart, SVP Programming, Optomen Productions, said the segment will explore the Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant incident in 1984, in which a strange object was spotted hovering over the plant and caused a widespread panic.
“Of all the amazing unidentified flying object (UFO) stories that we have told on Mysteries at the Museum, this one is still totally unexplained,” Stobart said.
A crew from the show traveled to Pine Bush recently to film a model of the Hudson Valley UFO on display at the Pine Bush UFO and Paranormal Museum. Pine Bush is known as a UFO hot spot, with many alleged sightings over the years and an annual UFO Fair.

Domanie Ragni, Town of Crawford Director of Community Services, said the town is not sure if the museum will become a permanent fixture, but she is hopeful. Pine Bush’s UFO history and reputation give the hamlet a quirky quality that attracts visitors.

Ragni hopes the Travel Channel feature may showcase all Crawford has to offer and assists Pine Bush in becoming a destination for Orange County.

Tourism will bring business to Pine Bush’s main street, creating a thriving community for business owners and residents. Ragni said even the rumor of the museum and the show has brought phone calls from people interested in opening businesses in the area, including book stores, art galleries, crystal shops, alternative and holistic healing and more.

“The town supervisor, board and Orange County are very supportive of tourism-related endeavors, the goal being that the ventures assist all the town’s business owners,” Ragni said.

The show will air on the Travel Channel at 8 p.m. on Feb. 6.
