Villa Gaudio looking to sell holiday trees

Posted

Villa Gaudio, a pizzeria in Bullville, seeks to sell Christmas trees and wreaths at its restaurant for this and future holiday seasons, with all proceeds going towards the Pine Bush Youth Football and Cheer.

Frank Gaudio and Jennifer Besser, owner and associate of Villa Gaudio respectively, appeared at Crawford’s October 11 planning board meeting and explained that no other businesses have sold trees in Bullville within the last few years. They asserted that this would be a good volunteer opportunity to benefit the community.

“No one’s done trees in Bullville or even down 17K; Stonehenge used to do it. It’s been about two or three years that no one’s done it, so we looked into the fact of possibly offering something like that, but then donating any profits earned back to the community, so we’re not keeping it. I’ve been in touch with the woman at Pine Bush cheer and football and they seem like they’re on board with it,” Besser said, adding that Villa Gaudio would sell trees every year moving forward if approved.

“All the profit would go to the organizations of the cheerleaders and the football,” Gaudio affirmed.

Villa Gaudio would sell the trees to the side of its building, including string lighting for evening shoppers.

“On the side, we would close off near where the dumpster area is so the trees would be on the grass. Not impeding the parking lot,” Besser said.

The planning board voted to hold a public hearing for Villa Gaudio’s proposal on November 8 and requested that the applicant fill out a site plan application and a short environmental assessment form.
