Walden Humane Society seeks support for new transport vehicle

Posted

The Humane Society of Walden, a non-profit animal shelter committed to saving and rehoming cats and dogs, is looking for community support to purchase a new transport vehicle. In November 2022, after more than 100,000 miles and numerous adventures, their current van broke down, leaving them without reliable transportation to complete their vital mission.

Since the van broke down, HSW has had to juggle schedules and find alternative means of transporting the more than 150 dogs and cats under their care. Coordinating essential tasks such as veterinary appointments, spay/neuter procedures and assisting community members with animal surrenders has become increasingly challenging. In addition, their remote adoption events, which play an essential role in finding permanent, loving homes for their animals, have been severely impacted.

“We receive tremendous love and support from our community,” said Tracy Wilson, president of the Humane Society of Walden. “Unfortunately, our financial resources are stretched thin due to the ongoing need for animal rescue and related costs. It has become difficult to obtain the essential funds for a new vehicle. That is why we are asking for help from sympathetic individuals and organizations in this critical endeavor.”

HSW is asking the public for assistance in either locating a vehicle donation program targeted particularly to non-profit animal shelter or for people or businesses willing to donate a van, minivan or SUV that can hold multiples animal crates. Any and all leads are welcome and may be shared with Tracy at tracy@waldenhumane.org.

In appreciation for a vehicle donation, HSW will showcase the donor’s logo on the vehicle, on the shelter’s website and social media platforms, recognition of the donation in their newsletter, and a press release to be submitted to local media. Additionally, donors will be given a full-page advertisement in the Humane Society of Walden’s annual calendar.
