Favors for friends

Having had the opportunity to see the approved projects for the $4.5 million grant, I can only think wow.

In my honest opinion, I see a definite ‘favors for friends’ continuing trend and useless spending. How do we give a portion of this money to a building owner to improve their building when all it will do is increase the amount of profit on the sale of the building? (It is and has been for sale.)

As a person with a disability, there is no scenario in which walking paths in Ladycliff Park would be “accessible.” Hills are not conducive to this. Further, a kids splash pad is a great idea… for Roe Park, not Main Street.

Lastly, stamped concrete crosswalks and an amphitheater are not necessary to entice new business owners to come and revitalize Main Street, but improved building facades are necessary!
Come next March, remember how irresponsible your current mayor is with spending.
