Learn about accessory dwelling unit (ADU) grants

Posted

Cornwall’s Munger Cottage will be the location for an ‘Orange County Plus One ADU’ information session on Thursday, Sept. 5 from 5:30-9 p.m. ADUs are accessory dwelling units – a secondary housing unit on a single-family residential lot.

Orange County property owners who are looking to build an additional apartment can get information on grants – up to $125,000 per household – available to assist low-moderate income property owners to construct or rehabilitate code-compliant ADUs.

Applicant’s household gross income (pre-tax) requirements range from $80,400 for a one-person household to $151,600 for an eight-person household. Applicants must also own and occupy the residence in Orange County in which the ADU will be located. Vacation or second homes aren’t eligible for funding, and additional eligibility requirements apply.

With questions, call 845-713-4568 ext. 110. More information can be found at rupco.org/plusone/.
