Martin John Sauer, age 77, local dairy farmer and produce entrepreneur, died August.3, 2024, at his home. 

He was born on Dec.6,1946 in Brooklyn, N.Y. 

Martin was the son of the late Martin Sauer and Mary (Tramposch) Sauer. Martin graduated from Thomas A. Edison Vocational High School, where he learned the printing trade. this led to a career as a printer on Wall Street. Martin served in the U.S.  Army during the Vietnam era. he was a MP serving in Germany, attaining the rank  of E-4. In the early 70's he purchased a small farm in Rock Tavern.

 He followed his dream of a huge blueberry patch, milking cows, growing produce and a good country lifestyle. Together, with brother Richard, they worked tirelessly until he became sick with prostate cancer. Martin could always be found every weekend along Route 32 in Cornwall during the harvest season. 

The "Stone Ridge Farm Stand" was a favorite for the local people, until he was forced to close his operation. 

Martin is survived by Richard, his only brother at home. Also, survived by cousins: Diane Middleton (Daniel), of upstate N.Y.; Thomas Tramposch (Joan), of upstate N.Y.; Nancy Linger of Coxsackie, N.Y. Harry Sauer (Carole), of Cornwall, N.Y. ; Thomas Sauer (Patricia), of Campbell Hall, N.Y. ; Elaine Sauer-Siddons of Lewistown, PA; Wayne Sauer (Missy) of Salt Point, N.Y. and Arlene Fee of Bullville, N.Y.

His final request is that all men have early prostate screening - don't wait. The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Dinsmore for his compassionate care.

Memorial donations should be made to the Campbell Hall Fire Co., and the Blooming Grove Ambulance Corps.A future "Celebration of Life" is being planned.
