The Desmond Center for Community Engagement and Wellness, a Mount Saint Mary College initiative, will host the presentation “Preventing and Repairing Cultural Misunderstandings” on Friday, Sept. 27, from noon to 2 p.m.

The event, part of the Desmond Center’s ongoing Health Equity Talks series, will take place on the Mount campus at 330 Powell Ave., Newburgh, in Hudson Hall. It’s free and open to the public, but space is limited and registration is required. To register, visit https://bit.ly/dccewseptember2024. Confirmation will be sent to registrants 24 to 48 hours prior to the event.

Dr. Dana E. Crawford, a pediatric and clinical psychologist, will give an insightful session on the LET-UP approach, a practical framework designed to address cultural misunderstandings and unconscious biases. This session will include real-life exercises and tools to enhance communication and build inclusive relationships. It will provide participants with strategies to promote equity and inclusivity in both their professional and personal lives.

The Desmond Center provides wellness and educational services for underserved individuals and families. The center offers accessible and equitable educational, health, and wellness services for community members and families in the local area.
