I know we have a lot of important things to worry about these days. Local elections, local art projects, E-bikes and scooters and hotels, but I feel like I must bring your attention to a crisis that is even more alarming. Our kids cannot make change! I mean moola, loot, cashola, bread and bills. The simple act of handing someone the correct change is a lost art.
I guarantee if you hand most kids/young adults a $20 bill for something that costs $14.45 you can see the emergency lights come on. If the computers or phones are down you have caused sheer panic.
These are all very bright kids. They can make Tik-Tok videos and start YouTube channels in a snap. Giving random change with no pennies all bets are off! And before anyone thinks I’m blaming the kids, No sir. It’s us. We’re the problem.
So, I’m here to start the movement in Cornwall. Let’s teach our kids what giving change looks like. Someday the power will be out, no Wi-Fi, the cash register won’t tell us the correct change to give and someone will have to figure out what change to give the human standing in front of you.
Today I think this is something we can all get behind! I’ll teach the class. Sign me up.
