The Town of Newburgh Planning Board voted to accept the Draft Environmental Impact Study (DEIS) for the housing development project known as Britain Woods. The planning board will now have the ability to review and accept it or work with the applicant to remedy the report.

Britain Woods is a proposed site under the development of Engineering and Surveying Properties, PC. at 442 Little Britain Road on a 48 acre parcel of land with a proposed 258 multi-family units.

Comments from the public during a public scoping session in December 2022 noted concerns with the traffic along the road, potential light pollution and other questions about clearing and blasting. A revised scoping document was later adopted by the board this year which led to the completion of the DEIS.

The planning board’s next meeting will be held on Thursday, November 2 and 16.
