Carole McDermotts tireless devotion

There are angels among us sent by God for a mission known only to Him, and these earthly messengers come into our lives, inspiring and blessing us with their gifts. When God made Carole McDermott, He blessed the world with a special angel, who with her loving spirit and warm heart, joyfully took on an insurmountable task of bringing hope and peace to all God’s children, wherever needed and making the world a gentler place to live.

Town of Newburgh resident, Carole has served as the Volunteer President of Meals on Wheels of Greater Newburgh since 2010. It was Divine Providence that a young six-year-old Girl Scout was destined to meet Newburgh’s grandest lady, Frederica Warner, the founder and Executive Director Emeritus of Meals on Wheels. It made a lasting impression on young Carole, and she still sings sweet praises of pure love for her late lifetime friend, Frederica.

Carole’s strength and insight, and tireless devotion to Meals on Wheels is legend. She has also been honored for her dedication and contributions to a myriad of community organizations, and was recognized by Orange County Executive Steven M. Neuhaus, as the Citizen of the Month Award winner December 2019.

Carole was also honored as a “Super-ager,” a word that defines a super-ager as one who is 80 years of age plus, and lives a healthy lifestyle, and has cognitive skills comparable to someone much younger. This honor was initiated by former columnist of “The Senior Gazette,” Cliff Davis, and was presented August 2023.

My calendar is still posted as March, the glorious month of celebrating inspiring women for their love and outstanding achievements to all God’s children. Carole is without a doubt an angel in our midst, an angel at our side that blesses us with her warmth and light, and God’s glory. Kind-hearted and humble, she thanks God for her cherished husband, David, and her precious family whose love and support have been her greatest gift.

May you always have an angel at your side.
