The Newburgh City Council approved the resolution for the city to support the passage in the New York State Legislature of the Clean Slate Act. With the approval of this bill, this will give those who have been incarcerated and have served their sentences the opportunity to seek opportunities without the fear and stigma of their previous records.

The Clean Slate Act support resolution was brought forward by Councilman Omari Shakur, who mentioned to the council that the same supportive resolution was passed in the City of Poughkeepsie the day before the work session.
