City Park Seeks Construction

Newburgh City Council approved the resolution, presented by City Recreation Director Matthew Nordt, for the city manager to execute a contract with the construction firm Greenman-Pedersen, INC [GPI], in the amount of $72,000, for the construction and improvement to the “Tot Lot” Park at Delano-Hitch Park in the City of Newburgh.

The Tot Lot park is seeking construction and additional upgrades, and documents on the city website list screening, a drinking fountain and trash receptacle and additional security gates included on the site. However, there are no current renderings available at this time for the public and council members made a request to have renderings shared with the public once available. This particular park is located on the corner of Washington St. and Lake St. and is adjacent to the skateboard park.

In addition to the Tot Lot, Councilwoman Ramona Monteverde inquired about the other playground site located at the corner of South William St. and 9W. She noted that that site is also in need of some upgrades and maintenance.

Addressing the park’s conditions, Nordt shared with the council that the other playground facility has also been reviewed by the city’s recreation department and funding for this project would be looked to be used through the Community Development Block Grant funds.
