Dare To Dream hosts Back to School Event

Dare to Dream Christian Ministries, located at 340 First Street and run by Pastors Jesus and Marilyn Maldonado, hosted a Back To School event for the families of the City of Newburgh.

“Giving back to the community is something that Dare To Dream enjoys to do,” Marilyn said. “We love helping the community, we love helping in any way that we can.”

Providing support and resources is a mission close to Marilyn as she has worked within the school district and is an advocate for families who may need support. Both pastors are grateful to be a resource and offer various supplies, clothes and notebooks that the child will be able to use. “Let’s not stop doing the good,” Jesus said. “We have to do the good to everyone and try to help as much as we can.”

Helping with the distribution of supplies were church members Dianna Ortiz, Lillian Cruz and Areli Ortiz. Each of them was able to assist families in getting supplies for children and went out and around sharing the news of their event. “It’s nice to see the parents and the families come here [Dare To Dream],” Ortiz said.

New notebooks, fresh empanadas, new pencil kits, and clothes available for the children and families to browse helped make the event successful for Dare To Dream. Upcoming events for Dare To Dream will be the hosting of a Toys For Tots and coat drive event and the church is awaiting final completion to their space and will have a grand opening on Saturday, October 8 at 6 p.m.
