Draft Animal Power Field Days

2024 Draft Animal Power Field Days -- a program of Draft Animal Power Network, or DAPNet

DAPNet is an international group of farmers, foresters, loggers, teamsters, homesteaders and supporters who came together in 2011 to form a non-profit that furthers the humane use of draft animal power for a more-sustainable future. DAPNet provides connection to resources that preserve and advance the use of draft animals in the working landscape. DAPFD is part fair, part educational conference. We welcome the public as well as long-time practitioners of draft power to come to our annual three-day event to share knowledge and learn from each other. This is perhaps the only event like it in the country, for those with an interest in working animals and sustainability.

On Friday, choose from one of five day-long intensive workshops, including introductory workshops on both horses and oxen for those looking to try their hands at driving draft horses and cattle for the first time. Saturday features a wide array of shorter workshops on everything from training young animals to blacksmithing, chainsaw maintenance and equine bodywork with our popular benefit auction in the evening. Sunday begins with our annual member meeting and features family-friendly events like the obstacle course and tug-of-war -- people vs. a draft animal! Catered lunch and dinner. Free camping, pre-registration encouraged. You can come to just one day, or the whole thing.
