On January 7, Michael Skulevold, Christian Delgado and Eric Heitmuller were honored as Eagle Scouts at the Cronomer Valley Fire Department, located at 296 North Plank Road in the Town of Newburgh. The Eagle Scout Award is scouting’s highest honor, and only eligible Boy Scouts achieve this rank.

Michael Skulevold built a garden in front of the Sisters of the Presentation Convent in New Windsor, NY for his Eagle Scout Service Project to help Sisters who were walker or wheelchair bound. The garden consists of two benches for the Sisters to sit on which improves their proximity to the garden. As a member of Boy Scouts Troop 4027, Michael is grateful for the valuable life skills learned and the opportunity to help others.

Christian Delgado constructed and installed Free Library Boxes in Kristi Babcock and San Giacomo Parks for his Eagle Scout Service Project to promote literacy and education among young children visiting the parks and to enrich the community. As a member of Boy Scouts Troop 27, Christian thanks his adult leaders and fellow scouts for their help as well as local businesses for their donations that enabled this project to be realized.

Eric Heitmuller built a climbing tower for his Eagle Scout Service Project to improve the summer camp experience for preschoolers participating in the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum’s Outdoor Discovery Center. The climbing tower has four sides. Each side of the tower has an activity for children to play on. As a member of Troop 4027, Eric is thankful for the leadership skills ascertained and the ability to contribute to the community.

Town of Newburgh Supervisor Gil Piaquadio and Town Councilwoman Elizabeth Greene presented a Certificate of Achievement to Eagle Scouts Michael Skulevold, Christian Delgado, and Eric Heitmuller for their outstanding achievement. Michael, Christian and Eric celebrated their remarkable accomplishment with fellow scouts and supporting family and friends.

Councilwoman Greene highlighted that achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is an important accomplishment that will benefit Michael, Christian, and Eric in their future employment endeavors.

Thank you Eagle Scouts for your contributions to our community and congratulations on your outstanding achievement.
