Early Voting Set

The Orange County General Election will be held on Tuesday, November 7 with early voting set to begin on Saturday, October 28. The Town of New Windsor and City of Newburgh will see multiple candidates in this election. The Town of Newburgh candidates are all running unopposed.

Town of New Windsor - Early voting will take place at the New Windsor Community Center located at 555 Union Avenue, New Windsor will see two candidates going for the town supervisor position, three for town council and two candidates for town clerk. Current Town Supervisor George Meyers made the decision to step down and will conclude his service at the end of the year.

New Windsor councilman Stephen A. Bedetti [R, NW STRONG] ]will be seeking the Town Supervisor seat against opponent Colin J. Schmitt [C]. This will be Bedetti’s second bid for the seat and a first bid for Schmitt following his time as a state assemblyman and a recent bid for congress.

New Windsor Councilwoman Sylvia M. Santiago [D, 4NEWWINDSOR] will seek another term on the town board as she will face off against new candidates Charles H. Broe [R, NW STRONG] and Gregory A. Biasotti [C]. The Town Clerk race will see incumbent Kelly Allegra [D, 4NEWWINDSOR] go against new candidate Patricia Clarino [R, NWSTRONG]. Incumbent Anthony E. Fayo [R,C] will be seeking the highway superintendent position again.

City of Newburgh - Early voting will take place at the City of Newburgh Activity Center located at 401 Washington Street. The city will see three candidates in November pursuing the mayoral seat and four candidates for city council. Though present on the ballot, candidate Anusha Mehar previously shared that she would not be campaigning for the seat. Current Councilman Anthony Grice chose not to run again for another term and will be stepping down from council at the conclusion of the year.

Incumbent Torrance R. Harvey [D, Working Families] will face off against candidate John N. Giudice [R,C] and new candidate Hael. V. Stewart-Fisher [NewburghFoward] for the mayoral seat. Incumbent Councilman Omari Shakur [D] will face off against Robert D. McLymore [D], Donald E. Rehrey Jr. [R, C] and Christine Bello [R,C] for the city council.

Town of Newburgh - No new candidates have been announced or emerged for the upcoming election in the town of Newburgh. Republican/Conservative candidates Town Supervisor Gilbert J. Piaquadio, Town Clerk Lisa M. Vance-Ayers, Town Justice Richard Clarino and Councilmen Anthony Lobiondo and Scott M. Manley will all be running unopposed.

The times for early voting hours are as follows: Saturday, October 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday, October 29 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday, October 30 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Tuesday, October 31 from noon to 8 p.m.; Wednesday, November 1 from noon to 8 p.m.; Thursday, November 2 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Friday, November 3 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.; Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, November 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
