Ernest “Ernie” Gordon Decker, 85, a retired driver for Coca~Cola, passed away on Saturday, November 30, 2019. The son of the late John Charles and Mabel (Willis) Decker he was born on January 23, 1934 in Newburgh.
Ernie married his first love, June (Cable) Decker who predeceased him. Ernie was grateful to have a second blessing in love, as Liz Sarvis and he have shared their love together.
In addition to Liz, Ernie is survived by his children, Gary John Decker and his wife, Lorraine, of Newburgh, Guy Walter Decker and his wife Joyce, of Phoenix, AZ, Diane Elaine Decker, also of Phoenix, Debra I. Turley and her husband, Michael of Fountain , FL, and Glen Decker and his wife, Jackie, of Clarksburg, WV; grandchildren, Kathleen Decker, Glen Decker, Kristen Waters and wife, Anja and Amy; a great-grandson, Bowdi Decker and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, John and Mabel, his first love, June, Ernie was predeceased by all of his siblings, James, Kurt, Blair, Bobby and Shirley.
Services will be held privately for Ernie. As Ernie’s dogs were so very special to him, memorial contributions in lieu of flowers in Ernie’s memory may be made to the Town of Newburgh Animal Shelter, 645 Gidney Avenue, Newburgh, NY 12550.
