Fernando M. Mejias, IV, entered into rest on Sunday, April 16, 2023. He was 35.
Son of Elizabeth (Rivera) Perez, and the late Fernando Mejias, III, he was born October 8, 1987 in Newburgh.
Fernando was a phlebotomist with NY Blood Center, Elmsford, NY. “Fern”, as he was known by family and friends, enjoyed cooking, baking, trivia, playing video games and traveling. He loved his family, friends and his four cats. He was described by loved ones as having a “huge heart and would help anyone who asked”.
Survivors include his mother, Elizabeth and stepfather, Harry Perez of New Windsor; grandparents Fernando and Norma Mejias; life partner, Michael Holmstock of New Windsor; two sisters, Ashley Mejias and Isabella Perez, both of New Windsor; two brothers, Michael Hanna of Newburgh and Christopher Hanna of Walden; and many uncles, aunts, cousins and one niece.
In addition to his father, he is predeceased by grandparents Miguel and Nancy Rivera.
Visitation for family and friends will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20, 2023 at White, Venuto and Morrill Funeral and Cremation Service, 188 N. Plank Road, Newburgh A Funeral Service will follow, 6 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Manny Montalvo officiating.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m., Friday, April 21, at Woodlawn Cemetery, New Windsor.
