Fireworks in town’s future?

Although the annual Town of Newburgh Community 4th of July celebration was canceled for the second year in a row, town officials are hoping to see fireworks about the town skies before the summer is over.

The Newburgh Town Council, Monday night, approved an expenditure of $11,999 for fireworks There is a tentative date of August 20 for a townwide celebration, but town officials warned that the date is not set in stone.

Supervisor Gil Piaquadio said the actual date will likely hinge on the progress of the replacement of the Gardnertown Road Bridge, currently underway.
