Former city pool demolished

The City of Newburgh is one step closer to a new pool and aquatic center for its residents, as the formerly dilapidated pool and water slide have since been demolished. The entire site including the parking lot has been enclosed in chain link fencing for now as the rest of the cleanup is underway.

Engineering firm Clark Patterson Lee [CPL] have been tasked with the creation and design of the new pool facility that has remained closed during the first year of the COVID pandemic and years after. The firm returned before City Council in early June with a 90% design update for the pool facility.

The public has been presented with a new six lane pool facility, a large scale splash pad site, a community bathhouse and new recreational facilities. The parking lot for the pool complex has also been planned to be redone. Residents and families have taken advantage of the splash pads at Tyrone Crabb Memorial, Xavier Lunan and Audrey Carey Parks while the pool is waiting to be completed.

The City of Newburgh will host a ground-breaking ceremony for the new aquatic center on Wednesday, September 6 at 5 p.m.
