The Marlboro Marlins lost a two-run lead in the fourth inning, suffering a 4-3 loss to the Hudson Valley Storm on Thursday in a Greater Hudson Valley Baseball League 13U game at New Windsor Little League field.
The Storm took the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth inning with three runs. Joe Marino lined an RBI single down the right-field line before Jack Schaper followed with an RBI double to left. Andrew Murray later drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the game-deciding run.
The Marlins struck first in the opening inning, using a pair of singles to take an early advantage. Domenick Tomanelli delivered a two-run double to put the Marlins on the board.
The Storm answered in the bottom of the first inning as Thomas Spanjer singled and scored on a wild pitch.
The Marlins added a run in the fourth inning when Dashon McKenzie scored on a wild pitch.
Anthony Slaughter started for Marlboro, allowing four runs — three earned — on five hits over 3 1/3 innings. He struck out three and walked four. Justin Cavanagh earned the start for the Storm, giving up two runs on two hits in three innings while striking out six and walking four.
Ryan Tompkins and Tomanelli each collected a hit and drove in a run to lead the Marlins’ offense.
Spanjer led the Storm’s offense with two hits in three at-bats, while Marino and Schaper each drove in a run.
The Marlins finished the week on Saturday with a 14-4 loss to the Black Dirt Barnstormers.
