Man killed in one-car MVA

Posted

On August 9, at approximately 11 p.m., Town of Newburgh Police responded to an automobile accident on Route 9W in the Town of Newburgh. Police found a 2005 Lexus that was involved in a one car rollover accident.

Preliminary investigation shows the vehicle was travelling southbound on Route 9W, being driven by Michael Tornatore, 66, of the Town of Newburgh. It appears the Lexus crossed into the opposite lane of travel, struck a guard rail and came to rest on an embankment.
The driver, who was the sole occupant, was treated at the scene and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. While the accident is still being investigated, there does not appear to be any criminality at this time.
