Mary R. Roach, of the Town of Newburgh, entered into rest on Sunday, September 19, 2021. She was 94.

Daughter of the late James and Rose (Maksomski) Roach, she was born on May 6, 1927 in Chester, NY.

A lifelong area resident, after finishing high school she graduated Spencerian Business School. Mary was a bookkeeper for various plumbing companies in the area, including Cestaro Plumbing in her younger years. After retiring she then worked retail for various stores including Caldor, Masons and Value City, and as a receptionist for the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence. While young she was a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, later in life she attended St. Francis of Assisi Church. Mary cherished her family and was described as a “great cook” by her children.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia (Welsh) Shilling and Karen (Welsh) Wixon and her husband Richard, both of New Windsor; a son David Welsh and his husband Mark Sperber of Wilton Manors, FL; six grandchildren, Claire (Shilling) Shortle and her husband Christopher of Cornwall, Gregory Shilling, II of Los Angeles, CA, Catherine Shilling of Annapolis, MD, Austin Wixon of Gastonia, NC, Adam Wixon and Alexa Wixon, both of New Windsor; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by two brothers, James Roach and Donald Roach and a sister Kathleen Campanella and a son in law Gregory Shilling.

All Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
