Middlehope Veterinary Hospital located at 5349 Route 9W seeks a proposed expansion to the hospital.

Architect Martin A. Passante and Middlehope Veterinary General Manager Charlene Schaper made an initial appearance before the Town of Newburgh Planning Board on Thursday, November 2.

The project proposes an addition to the current hospital building and second floor expansion with exam rooms, hospital offices and a recreation space for the staff. A meeting conference room is also proposed to be included in the space.

MHE Engineering notes in its memo that it requests the applicant to reevaluate the parking calculations, a New York State Department of Transportation referral is required and an Orange County Planning Department referral will also be required once a complete application is submitted.

The project is listed as a Type II action under the State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQR), the project should also depict any proposed improvements and details of the parking lot modifications should be included on the plans. The subsurface sanitary sewer disposal system will need review as part of the project square footage evaluation. The system has a New York State Department of Environment Conservation State Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (SPDES) Permit currently attached.

The Town Planning Board approved for Planning Board Attorney Dominic Cordisco to prepare a referral letter to the Zoning Board of Appeals for front yard setbacks for the project that will require a variance. Patrick Hines of MHE Engineering will also be preparing notices to be sent out to the surrounding property owners.
