More than 100 artists will participate in the Thirteenth Annual Newburgh Open Studios, organized by Gerardo Castro and Michael Gabor, co- owners of Newburgh Art Supply, taking place on Saturday and Sunday, September 30 and October 1, from noon - 6 p.m. each day. It is a free self-guided tour. Maps will be available at Newburgh Art Supply, 5 Grand Street, both days of the tour, starting at 10 a.m. Newburgh Art Supply will be the central location for tour information and extra studio tour maps. This tour will introduce visitors to Newburgh’s dynamic arts community with the opening of artists’ work studios, alternative gallery spaces, outdoor public art and pop-up shows.

Newburgh Open Studios features a diverse selection of styles and artistic disciplines, from avant-garde video, photography, sculpture, performance art, printmaking and traditional oil painting. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to meet and talk with emerging and established artists and craftspeople in spaces rarely open to the public. Much of the self-guided tour is ‘walkable’ and includes The Bank Arts (former Karpeles Museum) Regal Bag, Atlas, The Foundry, Dikenga Art Gallery, Ann Street Studios, Holden Arts, Holland Tunnel Gallery, Newburgh Mercantile, Ted Cycle, Glenlily and Ann Street Gallery.

The 9th annual Glenlily Grounds, organized by Lacey Fekishazy, returns - 32 artists participate in an exhibition of outdoor site-specific art and sculpture spread out on the 11-acre Glenlily estate, located at 532 Grand Avenue, Balmville.

Grand opening of The Bank Arts, (former Karpeles Museum) 94 Broadway, Newburgh’s newest art space centering large-scale and public art will be part of this year’s tour. For the grand opening, Savaggi Art large scale sculptures and GERBOMATIC - Steve Gerberich’s interactive and kinetic sculpture will share the opulent space of The Bank Arts. Inaugural opening celebration with music and drinks, SAT 6 - 9 p.m.

This year, visitors will experience a timely art installation at ADS Warehouse, 105 Ann Street. Scorched Earth is a thought-provoking installation reproducing the aftermath of a destructive wildfire and stands as artists Amy Bandolik and Thomas Bregman’s first large-scale artistic collaboration. Visitors will view and advance through a grid of blackened trees, charred earth, ash and debris within the confines of a seemingly lifeless forest. And as they process its sights, scents and sounds, art adventurers will be enveloped by the magnitude of a mega-fire.
