Newburgh swimmers win three-way meet

The Newburgh Free Academy boys’ swimming and diving team won seven events, scoring 514 points and finishing first at a three-way meet against the Monroe-Woodbury Crusaders and the Valley Central Vikings on Thursday at NFA Main.

Angelo Reade and Jack Mummery each won two individual events and were part of two winning relay teams for the Goldbacks.

Reade won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.62 seconds and won the 100-yard freestyle in 50.62 seconds. Mummery won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:52.16 and the 500-yard freestyle in 5:08.68.

They teamed with Vinny Velasquez and Aidan Domanico to win the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:34.00, and with Peyton Tuttle and Jackson Cooper to win the 400-yard freestyle relay in 3:33.01.

Domanico won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.70 seconds.

Conor Mummery swam a personal best in the 200-yard freestyle when he finished third with a time of 2:00.42.

Tuttle was second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.27, a season-best time. He was second in the 100-yard backstroke with a season-best time of 56.57 seconds. Markus Constancio’s personal best time of 1:10.39 was good enough for seventh.

Sebi Burgarelli was third in the 100-yard butterfly with a personal-best time of 1:00.77 and Ryder Tuttle was seventh with a personal best time of 1:16.13.

Velasquez was third in the 100-yard freestyle with a season-best time of 52.17 seconds and Miles Davis posted a season best when he took fifth with a time of 55.44 seconds.

Lukas Townsend was fifth in the 500-yard freestyle with a personal-best time of 5:49.54.
Jesse Pagano posted a personal best in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:24.64.

He finished sixth.
